Fynyte - A Vermont Christian Band Fynyte (pronounced "Finite") is a Christian rock band from the Barre Vermont area. They formed in January of 2002 as an independent band seeking to sow the seeds of Christ. Fynyte is led by Adrian Otterman on guitars and lead vocals. He is the songwriter of the band and his lyrics bear out his struggle to exist in this world while simultaneously trying to live for God. Adrian began his music career in California, where he played bass in a secular rock band. When God called him to something more, he quit the band and recorded an independent album. Adrian spent two years as the worship leader at the Orange Alliance Church, in Orange, Vermont. He has recently stepped down from that position to focus on the work of God through Fynyte. Fynyte's percussion / harmony vocals are provided by Jeff Blanchard. Jeff began drumming for jazz bands back in high school. He developed his harmony vocals while performing as one half of the Schmoll / Blanchard duo. They traveled throughout New England bringing the message of Christ's love others. Fynyte's bass player is Chris Johnson. Chris's musical influences include 70's power bands such as the Allman Brothers and Rush. Chris is an electric guitar man by trade, but his musical training and knowledge have made for a seamless transition to the bass. His love for Christ has made for a seamless transition from the music of this world to the music of the next. Fynyte's depth is a result of Amy Otterman's work on the keyboards. Amy is Adrian's sister and is a classically trained pianist with a degree in music from Messiah College. Amy completes Fynyte's sound with her delicate touch on songs like "Fade Away" or her dissonant power on edgier songs like "Pageant" and "Apathy". Her musical influences include Third Day and Caedmon's Call as well as Bach and Mozart. Fynyte has been cutting their teeth with live shows in Vermont: - June 2002: We organized, hosted, and performed in a concert to raise money for a missions trip to the Dominican Republic. - July 2002: We performed at the Orange Heritage Day Festival. - August 2002: We performed at the VT/NH Gideon Convention. - September 2002: We closed out 11 hours of live music and ministry at the Fall Fellowship Festival in Burlington, Vt. - November 2002: We wrapped up a three-band concert at a youth rally near Stowe. - December 2002: We assembled and performed a traditional Christmas Eve service. - February 2003: We made our debut television appearance on the local CBS station, WCAX (channel 3). - April 2003: We competed in the Semi-Final round of the Playlist Productions "New Artist Search" in Nashville Tennessee. - April 2003: We closed out "Crossroads IV", a Christian music concert at Middlebury College / Ferrisburgh. Fynyte's goal is to sow the seeds of Christ through our music. The band has found the obvious - that the only time they can reach others is when an audience is listening. To that end, we have tried to develop music that attracts the largest audiences - young teenagers and their parents. Fynyte has recently been labeled one of the best unsigned Christian bands in America by "Playlist Productions", a Nashville based record label. Fynyte's song, "We Want to Love You" is being added to an unsigned bands compilation album, to be released across America in the summer of 2003. |
